Country/Americana: 9 new female artists that will change your mood

Even though I’m a self-confessed fan of Taylor Swift (especially the country phase), Kelsea and Kacey, among others, I can’t ignore the fact that this select list is about to include the revelation of the so-called pop-country: Daisy Briggs. I can see why the Nashville-based country artist is often compared to Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini for her pure vocal style and penchant for writing about personal experience. (besides her long blonde hair, of course). “I do what I do because I love telling stories. If I can tell my story in a way that resonates with someone else’s experience, I’ve done my job.”, she says.

Born and raised in Newport, Rhode Island, Daisy started taking guitar lessons at 13, traveling to Nashville to play her first open mic night at the Bluebird Cafe at 14. At 18, Daisy moved to Nashville to study Music Business at Belmont University, performing regularly at Belcourt Taps and falling in love with the local music scene. In 2021, she played her first full-band show at Tin Roof’s “Bus Call” showcase. In May 2023, Daisy will release her first EP titled “Nice Knowing You,” consisting of six songs and accompanied by six music videos. Enjoy!
