Subterranean Street Society + 13 Alt.Country artists to change your life

In the last few months, we had two major re-releases, two titles that, alone, served as the foundation of a musical genre that managed to reconcile indie-rock with country, the so-called alt.country. I’m referring to “Yankee Foxtrot Hotel” by Wilco, and “Heartbreaker”, Ryan Adams‘ first after the breakup of Whiskeytown – another band that was decisive for this scene, which doesn’t stop making new generations of bands – and fans, of course.

In this new alt.country list, I bring you more than 10 artists – and certainly fans of Wilco and Ryan Adams – who are managing to contribute, and a lot, to the history of this musical style. Some with a stronger Americana footprint, others totally indie-rock. It’s hard to know which one can’t be left out of your playlist.
