Janet Devlin + 5 Country / Covers you have to listen right now
One day I was chatting with my journalist friends about the great number of international shows scheduled for Brazil this second half of the year. And apparently I realized I was the only one who had invested any money to attend Kacey Musgraves‘s first performance in São Paulo. That’s when it hit me: my love for country music was transmitted by Evan Dando.
Lucinda Williams, Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams… I was too young to have access to names like these. And Evan opened the doors to this treasure for me through his covers. The gratitude I felt, combined with the fact that I was the only one to honor a country singer in São Paulo ( among so many other more appealing offers), led me to send Evan a thank you message. “Hey man, here’s something I’ve probably never said to you….” which he promptly responded to with a heart emoji.
Now, let’s go for some great NEW country names:
Janet Devlin
Since her early beginnings as a standout performer on the UK X Factor at the age of 16, Janet Devlin has gone on to do so much more. Her debut album, ‘Running With Scissors’, heralded a defining moment, wherein she sculpted her singular artistic identity with finesse. Her most recent album, ‘Confessional’, served as a deeply personal narrative as she poured her heart out, transforming her struggles into a captivating folk-pop odyssey that resonated with audiences worldwide. Accompanied by her book ‘My Confessional’, this multifaceted project offered an intimate glimpse into her world.
