Indie Folk: Sloan Treacy + 5 new female artists you should be listening today

It’s simply amazing and exciting when, when composing lists like this, I come across this collective of super talented women, each in their own subgenre of folk. Some more pop, others more country. It doesn’t matter. The quality of each song is worth the presentation.

Sloan Treacy

From an early age, 16-year-old Sloan Treacy knew that she wanted to pursue music, drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Stevie Nicks. “My dad plays guitar and taught me how to play. Some of my songs came together because he would come up with a set of chords or a really cool riff on the acoustic guitar and I would write something over it”.Her music, characterized by emotional lyrics and a raw acoustic guitar sound, creates the perfect backdrop for a late-night drive with the windows down.
